SEND at Peafield

Peafield Lane Academy is a mainstream primary school for children aged 3–11. We are proud to be an inclusive school where every child is valued, supported and encouraged to achieve their full potential.

We believe that all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), are entitled to a rich, ambitious and engaging curriculum. High-quality inclusive teaching is at the heart of our approach, supported by appropriate adaptations, targeted interventions and personalised provision where needed.

We identify additional needs as early as possible and work closely with children, parents and carers to understand strengths, needs and any barriers to learning. Where a child is identified as having SEND, appropriate provision and targets are put in place and reviewed regularly with families.

Children’s voices are central to our approach. We want every child to feel safe, listened to, respected and included, and we involve pupils in understanding their learning and identifying what helps them to succeed.

Where appropriate, we work with specialist services and other professionals, including Nottinghamshire Schools and Families Specialist Services (SFSS). Some children may also require support through an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

We make reasonable adjustments to ensure children can participate fully in learning and wider school life. We also carefully support transitions into school, between year groups and on to a child’s next setting, providing additional transition arrangements where required.
