British Values

Promoting British Values at Peafield Lane Academy

At Peafield Lane Academy, we actively promote the fundamental British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

British Values are woven throughout our curriculum and wider school life, including through assemblies, Personal Development and PSHE, pupil leadership and everyday experiences.

They are closely connected to our PRIDE values. Being Proud encourages children to value themselves, their school and their community; being Respectful teaches children to value the rights and views of others; and being Inclusive ensures children celebrate difference and understand that everyone belongs.

Together, our PRIDE and British Values help children become respectful, responsible and active citizens, prepared to contribute positively to life in modern Britain.

Anti-Racism Education Programme (AREP)

At Peafield Lane Academy, we are committed to ensuring that every child feels valued, respected and included. As part of this commitment, children in Years 3 and 4 take part in the Anti-Racism Education Programme (AREP) in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council.

Through age-appropriate learning, stories and discussion, children explore identity, similarities and differences, stereotypes, discrimination, bullying and racism. The programme helps children develop the confidence and vocabulary to recognise racism, challenge prejudice appropriately and understand the importance of standing up for themselves and others.

AREP complements our wider Personal Development curriculum, British Values and PRIDE values, particularly being Respectful and Inclusive, helping us prepare children to contribute positively to a diverse society.

Miss Trolley is our AREP Ambassador, supporting the programme and helping to ensure that anti-racism education remains visible and meaningful across our school community.
