We define curriculum as the totality of a child’s experience at Peafield Lane Academy. It encompasses not only what and how children learn, but the people they become. Our ambitious curriculum provides breadth and depth through purposeful learning, meaningful experiences and wider opportunities. We know our children and community well and are committed to identifying and overcoming barriers so that every child can succeed.

Our curriculum is underpinned by our EVER principles: Experiential, Vocabulary-rich, Empowering and Relevant. It is designed to inspire curiosity through enquiry and is knowledge-rich, developing substantive, procedural and disciplinary knowledge across subjects. Learning is carefully sequenced so that children build on what they already know, revisit important concepts and commit knowledge to long-term memory. A strong focus on vocabulary and oracy enables children to confidently articulate their learning, broaden their understanding and access future opportunities.

Beyond the classroom, we provide rich experiences that broaden horizons, develop talents and interests and create lasting memories. Through visits, visitors, residentials, sport, the arts, leadership opportunities and engagement with our community, we ensure children experience a curriculum that is relevant, meaningful and ambitious.
