 New Guidance for Families regarding Coronavirus from February 2022

As many of you will no doubt know, the government has provided updated guidance on the way society and schools manage Covid. Whilst the vast majority of measures will be removed in the coming weeks, we all still have a collective and personal responsibility to keep children, families, staff and our wider communities safe. Therefore we wanted to write to you all with how this updated guidance will be implemented in schools.

Symptoms and positive cases: Whilst the need to isolate will be removed, we ask that all staff, children and families take sensible decisions around attending school where individuals have Covid or are unwell with Covid symptoms. Where you have concerns about significant Covid related symptoms, or a confirmed case, please do not send your child to school to protect our whole community – this should be for the advised 5 days. This enables children, staff and families to feel safe and keep children in school, where we all absolutely want them to be. This is also in keeping with how you as families and we as schools would manage any child feeling unwell.

Face masks: Face masks are no longer advised for adults or children, however we absolutely understand that some families, children and staff may wish to continue wearing masks and this will be supported.

We will of course maintain the ongoing recommendations regarding reducing the risk of transmission with these being:

  • An ongoing focus on good hand hygiene and regular hand washing
  • Maintaining a level of ventilation whilst balancing this with keeping our classrooms at a reasonable and comfortable temperature
  • Maintaining the cleaning of school on a daily basis

 

We appreciate any changes to guidance bring a level of anxiety for some so please do speak with your school around any concerns. As guidance continues to evolve we will of course keep you all informed. Wishing you all a wonderful half term.
